A New Montana Based Clinical Training Resource

An introduction and some current opportunities!

You are receiving this because…

You are a mental health provider who may be interested in a regular, monthly-ish newsletter on training opportunities, resources, and musings about CBT and related topics that impact your work on a daily basis. (If you aren’t interested, no worries! It’s easy to unsubscribe).

Who is behind Montana Mental Health Training?

I’m Kyrie Russ, and I’m responsible for this hitting your inbox. You might know me from my business, Mount Helena Counseling or from the annual Montana CBT Conference that I launched in 2021. I started a training and consultation service because I’ve noticed gaps in training opportunities for mental health providers in our state. I love Montana and believe that our friends and neighbors deserve access to high quality mental health care. To create this reality, we, as therapists, need options to continue our education beyond graduate school.

I’m pretty nerdy about CBT.

There are other therapies out there, some of them really powerful and empirically supported. But Montana Mental Health Training News will primarily be a resource for info that falls under the cognitive-behavioral umbrella. If you aren’t a CBT person, hang in there. I look forward to presenting my case through upcoming blogs, maybe a podcast episode or two!

Upcoming Opportunities

Join me in Great Falls on March 24 for a six hour CBT training, appropriate for both new and seasoned clinicians. Check out the registration site for details:

CBT for Depression and Anxiety

I also have a six hour home-study course on disordered eating, available ongoing. The course features video and off screen exercises (thank goodness, it’s not just 6 hours of me talking). Check it out on my e-course platform: Best Practices for Evaluating and Intervening with Disordered Eating

Individual Consultation Services

I love nothing more than to help colleagues with case conceptualization and intervention from a CBT or ACT perspective, especially if you are working with clients with OCD, BFRBs, anxiety, phobia or disordered eating. I personally benefit from my own ongoing consultation with experts in the field. If you are looking for peer consultation or supervision, please reach out!

That’s all for now! Please share this newsletter with colleagues if you see fit.
